Leading into the fall season, Netflix continues to churn out the summer fun with the August 2022 slate of new Netflix movies and shows.
There are so many comfort movies heading for our watch lists, which follow on the heels of huge summer blockbusters like The Sea Beast, Persuasion, and The Gray Man. Laughs and romance help ease us out of summertime in August’s new Netflix movies.
When it comes to the new Netflix shows premiering in August 2022, a number of fan-favorite titles return with new seasons and a major new series finally makes its debut.
Let’s highlight some of the biggest new Netflix movies making their debut on Netflix in August. The upcoming slate of movies brightens things up with comedy, romance, and big stars such as Jamie Foxx, Lili Reinhart, Kevin Hart, and more.
Release Date: Aug. 4
If you’re in the mood for a romantic comedy, then Wedding Season is the movie you must add to your watch list in August. Pallavi Sharda and Suraj Sharma star in the Netflix movie as a “couple” who pretends to date to appease their parents as a summer wedding spree puts on the pressure. However, they inevitably feel sparks. Don’t miss the cute movie on Aug. 4.

Jamie Foxx brings both comedy and touches of horror to Netflix this summer with Day Shift. In the film, Foxx plays a blue collar dad making ends meet for his daughter with his pool cleaning job. But beneath the surface, his day job is a front for his actual profession: hunting vampires. Check out what’s sure to be a new comedy hit when it debuts on Aug. 12.

Riverdale star Lili Reinhart headlines a Netflix original movie for the first time with Look Both Ways, a Sliding Doors-esque romantic dramedy. Before she graduates college, Natalie (Reinhart) sees her life split into two alternate realities. One finds her moving to Los Angeles and the other finds her pregnant in her hometown. Find out which path she chooses on Aug. 17.
Although we now have to wait for Stranger Things season 5, there are so many new Netflix shows coming in August to help fill the gap season 4 vol. 2 left behind. From the final season of a fan-favorite to the debut of a highly anticipated series, our watch lists will be filled all month long.

Based on the DC comics by Neil Gaiman, The Sandman has been anxiously awaited by fans since Netflix announced its series adaptation. The series stars Tom Sturridge and Gwendoline Christie star in the fantasy-horror series, and it’s sure to be one of the biggest new Netflix shows on the year. Tune into all 10 episodes when The Sandman premieres Aug. 5.

While we’re excited for the new season of Locke & Key, the third season will also be the final season of the series. The hit Netflix original supernatural fantasy drama comes to an end on Aug. 10 with the last 10-episode adventure. Devi is back! And her love life is more complicated than ever.
