There are so many holiday movies to choose from, so budgeting and investing website Wealthy Nickel used data from Rotten Tomatoes and Google Trends to rank the most popular Christmas film in each state.
“Just thinking about [different holiday movies] brings up fond memories of Christmas — whether holiday traditions, family gatherings, or twinkling lights on a tree,” part of the report said.
In Michigan, “Krampus” came out on top, beating holiday classics like “The Grinch,” “The Polar Express” and “Frosty the Snowman,” according to the ranking.
Called a horror-comedy film, the movie centers around an ancient European folk tale that warns of a horned beast called Krampus who punishes naughty children at Christmas time, according to IMDB.
Nearby, the most popular holiday flick was “It’s a Wonderful Life” in Wisconsin, “A Christmas Story” in Indiana, and “Home Alone” in Ohio.
