Halloween is just days away, and one of the best ways to honor the spooky holiday is to scare yourself silly by watching some classic hair-raising and spine-chilling movies. The Friday the 13th movie franchise is undeniably one of the most popular series in the slasher horror genre, up there with Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street, and Texas Chainsaw Massacre, so it’s unsurprising that many are scouring the internet to find where to watch the classic franchise ahead of the big spooky day on Oct. 31.
The franchise follows a mysterious stalking killer Jason Voorhees who haunts Camp Crystal Lake and the surrounding area and is driven to brutally slaughter anyone in his path in order to avenge the death of his beloved mother, Pamela Voorhees. (Well, that’s after the first one, of course. No spoilers!)
So are any of the Friday the 13th movies on Netflix? And if not, where can you watch them? Find out this and more below.
Currently, the movie franchise has branched out into 12 slasher movies. But unfortunately, despite Netflix having one of the largest libraries of movies and shows, none of the Friday the 13th movies are on the streamer in the US.
As well as a successful movie franchise, the slasher flick also branched out into TV in 1987, however, it should be noted that the series is completely separate and has no story connections to the film series of the same title. In fact, Jason Voorhees does not make an appearance, nor does any character connected to the films.
If you were hoping to watch the series on Netflix you’ll be disappointed to learn that currently, the series is not available to watch on any streamer; only the box set is currently available for purchase through Amazon.
