10 Best Movies From 2022 So Far, According To Ranker – Screen Rant

Fans have voted for their favorite 2022 movies on Ranker, and a range of genres are covered, from action to horror to romance.
There are still some exciting new releases coming up in 2022, with horror fans waiting for Nope and Smile and Thor: Love and Thunder opening on July 8th. But as fans get ready for the summer movie season, it’s the perfect time to reflect back on the films that people have loved the most from the past few months.
Fans voted on Ranker for the most interesting and exciting 2022 releases, sharing a range of genres. A popular and thoughtful romance is included, along with the latest entries in beloved action sequels, along with a horror film that shocked audiences in a good way.
Note: Ranker lists are live and continue to accrue votes, so some rankings may have changed after this publishing.
The Lost City is the perfect combination of a love story and an exciting, fast-paced plot. Fans were curious to see a film starring Channing Tatum and Sandra Bullock and the movie delivers pure entertainment.
Dr. Loretta Sage goes on a book tour with Alan Caprison, who was the model for the cover of her latest release. When she is kidnapped, Alan does everything within his power to save her. The Lost City is the perfect action adventure movie but it can be a bit corny at times, which explains why it’s not higher up. The concept is interesting and it’s fun seeing how Loretta and Alan interact and how their relationship begins changing.
Jurassic World: Dominion is the latest release in the popular franchise and focuses on the characters working for the Dinosaur Protection Group. The movie has a love story between Dr. Alan Grant and Dr. Ellie Sattler, along with the dinosaur details and heart-pounding adventure that fans have come to expect from the franchise.
While fans will always want to see the latest entry, some feel that the franchise has lost some of its luster and that it’s not going in the best direction. Jurassic World: Dominion follows 2015’s Jurassic World and 2016’s Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
Horror fans are impressed with Fresh, which is one of the best horror movies streaming on Hulu, and it makes sense that the unique and different film would be among many people’s favorites of the year. While many new releases can be anything but scary and it can feel like there aren’t any more exciting horror movie concepts, Fresh does something compelling.
While not everyone will like it since it’s a fairly gory horror, Fresh imagines what would happen if a person fed up with dating met a seemingly great romantic interest who turns out to be incredibly dangerous. Noa is interested in Steve but figures out pretty quickly that he’s not what she thought.
Nicolas Cage fans know that the actor has been in some movies that are tough to like, so the incredibly creative and self-aware The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent comes at a perfect time.
Cage plays Nick Cage, an actor who is having trouble winning amazing parts. His former self, Nicky, who is still youthful, constantly talks to him, which makes him feel terrible. Cage might stop acting altogether, but then something interesting happens. It’s such a smart idea for a movie that it’s no wonder it was considered one of the best 2022 films. It will be cool to see what project Cage picks next.
The Worst Person In The World follows the love story of Julie and Arksel, which becomes complicated when Julie has feelings for someone else. The title is perfect as it’s just dramatic enough but also relatable as Julie feels terrible about her actions but knows that she’s on a necessary path of self-discovery.
The Worst Person In The World‘s best quotes are poignant and wise, and anyone who loves clever stories about growing up and figuring out what happiness is will appreciate it. The movie has gotten a lot of praise and it’s one of the best releases of the year that isn’t an action or horror film.
Robert Eggers moved into a new genre with The Northman, which tells the story of a Viking named Amleth who wants to get revenge on the person who murdered his dad. The film looks really good, which is of course important with period pieces.
Appealing to fans of historical stories and also those who love action, The Northman has good performances from Ethan Hawke, Anya Taylor-Joy, Nicole Kidman, and Alexander Skarsgård.
The A24 film Everything Everywhere All At Once is beautifully done, creative, different, and visually stunning. It’s no wonder that it was ranked highly as fans can’t say enough positive things about it.
The IRS contacts Evelyn Quan Wang, who realizes that she has to deal with the different versions of herself in a multiverse. The film has been praised for being inventive and it’s fascinating to learn more about Evelyn. This is the kind of movie that is best to watch without knowing much about it.
Top Gun: Maverick is doing incredibly well at the box office, grossing more than $1.1 billion globally, and fans of the original 1986 film continually rave about the action-packed sequel. It’s impressive that a second film could be made more than 30 years after the first one and be just as thrilling to watch.
Top Gun: Maverick is a great sequel and sees Tom Cruise’s character getting ready for a big and important mission. Even those who don’t love action or typically seek this genre of film out enjoy the nail-biting adventure here.
There have been so many different Batmans that Robert Pattinson’s turn as the beloved character was highly anticipated. The 2022 release The Batman definitely didn’t disappoint. Batman is going up against the Riddler, who is killing people in Gotham City. While Pattinson is of course famous for Twilight, he has made interesting career decisions and has starred in many different genres of films, making him a good choice here.
Fans love the movie because it’s a stylish, fresh take and focuses on Batman as a detective, which is fun to see. Gotham looks like a unique place and the talented cast brings it all together. After Ben Affleck’s Batman, fans couldn’t wait to see Pattinson, and it’s fair to say that the actor took on the role flawlessly and impressively.
Since movie fans are always excited about a new David Cronenberg release, it makes sense that Crimes of the Future earned the top spot.
Léa Seydoux, Kristen Stewart and Viggo Mortenson star in the film, which focuses on a future where characters use biotechnology because climate change has become so terrible. The story is as disturbing and arresting as Cronenberg’s other work, and this time, the characters often have surgery and use technology to help them function. It’s so strange and creative that it’s hard to forget about.
